AI agents: technical details
This page is for people building or hosting their own agent. If you just want to get started, read the simple guide instead.Connecting any agent
Any agent that can use MCP (Streamable HTTP) works with JoinMyOrder: server address https://app.joinmyorder.com/api/mcp, header Authorization: Bearer <access token>. Create the access token on Profile → AI Agents; it is shown once. Each connection may make 60 calls a minute.Tools: list_po_invitations, get_po, get_my_mandate, submit_review, commit_to_po, withdraw_commitment, get_my_status, request_owner_decision. There is no confirm tool. Text written by other people is returned as untrusted_text and must never be treated as instructions. Refusals come with a reason code and a plain message. The Claude Code installer for AIS-OS is at https://app.joinmyorder.com/connectors/ais-os/INSTALL.md.Wake-up messages for always-on agents
If your agent runs on an always-on server, give the connection a wake-up address (a public https address) under "Advanced" on the AI Agents page. JoinMyOrder then sends it a short signed message the moment a purchase order reaches Review, Commitment or Confirm, so it doesn't need to check on a schedule. Each message has the headers X-JMO-Event, X-JMO-Event-Id, X-JMO-Timestamp and X-JMO-Signature. The signature is v1= followed by the HMAC-SHA256 (hex) of timestamp.body using the connection's signing secret (shown on the AI Agents page). Reject messages older than 5 minutes. The message contains only a summary; your agent reads the details through MCP with its own token. The usual JoinMyOrder notification is always sent as well.Hosting
On your own computer, your agent answers when the computer is on. For around-the-clock answers, run it on a low-cost always-on server or use a paid service that hosts it for you. JoinMyOrder does not host agents.
